TOKYO

Tsukiji is a world-famous market and it is called “Kitchen of Tokyo”. A part of the market (Inner market) where they used to hold tuna auctions was relocated to Toyosu in 2018. But don’t worry, the outer market stays open with the same passion in Tsukiji! There are about 400 stores in the outer market and you will encounter many interesting ingredients and foods while walking through the market.

Our Tokyo FooDrink Tour will take you to some vibrant stores selling the best quality foods in the outer market. You can try a variety of Japanese foods ranging from finger foods to delicacies. Our knowledgeable guides will tell you a lot of tips about Japanese culinary culture during the tour. We also visit the small wholesale area and show you many kinds of seafoods and foods. Don’t miss to taste a fresh tuna there too! In the end of the tour, we go to the local Sushi restaurant and enjoy some fresh Sushi. Get ready to learn some facts about Sushi there!

Tsukiji Market could be overwhelming but your guide knows everything. Follow the guide and let’s eat and drink like Japanese local!

Wonderful guide and superlative tour through the Market. She was vibrant, funny, happy and super informative about all manner of interesting new foods, and made sure we tasted only the best. We got a bellyful and even some sake with a take-home wooden cup! A sweet hostess, who also gave me directions to the nearest train station to get to Shibuya to a bookstore so I could find a hard-to-find book I was looking for. The best!

We absolutely loved our tour of Tsukiji market with the awesome Toshi. He is so knowledgeable and friendly and fun. One of the best guides we have ever ever had! Definitely a not to be missed tour, we would actually do it again tomorrow if we could!

This was one of the highlights of our trip to Japan. 3 hours very well spent; a great guide and insights (and access) not otherwise gained without a tour. Fantastic food sampled, as well as some amazing sake. The tour ended with an incredible sushi lunch. Very easy to recommend the experience.

We had a very pleasant Tour with our guide Kyoko. Tasting all the delicious food and learning more about the habits around Japanese food. And the sushi at the end was yammy!

Amazing tour, Toshi was very informative. We were able to learn about aspects Tsukiji and Japan that we would not have known otherwise. Tastings at various stops of the tour also gave us the opportunity to try different foods and understand the context of the dish from Toshi's explanations. In the fish meat section of the market we got exclusive viewing of the tuna cutting process and also tried very tasty cuts of the same tuna. Here, Toshi taught us Japanese table etiquette which was very applicable during our stay in Japan. Toshi was also very willing to answer any questions we had about Japan in general and recommendations for the rest of the trip which was very nice. Would definitely recommend for anyone who's visiting Japan for the first time.

THis was a three hour plus tour led by our guide Fumi. It was a great morning beginning at 8.30 and finishing about midday. Very informative and Fumi has excellent English language skills. Don't have breakfast before you join the tour as there is plenty to eat and a great variety of local dishes. The visit to the old fish market was a lot of fun particularly watching the tuna steaks being carved up. Yummy, yummy, yummy. This is a must do and very reasonably priced

Very fun tour! Great way to start our trip. We learned about the different foods Japan has to offer. Kiyoka was very personable and knowledgeable about all foods and background information. She also sent us food recommendations after our tour ended, which was very helpful. Our group consisted of 6 people, which allowed a more personable connection. Five stars for the tour and Kiki!

Lily was a fantastic guide during this walking tour that was tailor made for “foodies” . She was patient, and gave us time to explore anything in the fish market that caught our interest. The tasting portions were a nice variety of fresh and cooked foods, and the best part was seeing fresh tuna being cut by a professional. We were able to taste portions of fresh tuna, followed by a fabulous lunch in a sushi restaurant nearby. Lilly was the best! I highly recommend this tour! You’d better go hungry!

Fantastic tour and fantastic tour guide. I can’t conceive of going to this market without an expert guide and that allowed us to have a great experience and have answers to our many questions. Thanks so much. We will use Japan World Travel again!

We loved the tour of the tsukiji market. Our guide, Kiyoka was very informative and explained all about the market and the businesses inside. Sampled delicious Japanese omelette while it was being made. Fried fish cake, fresh raw tuna, tea, sake and many samples from different vendors. Ended at an excellent standing sushi restaurant which was making a great variety of sushi to our orders. Great tour.

We went on an excellent food tour at The Tsukiji Fish Market with Kyoko. She was very knowledgeable and answered all my questions. We were able to try a variety of different foods from fresh tuna, green tea, dashi and a variety of Japanese snacks. The tour ended at a wonderful standing sushi bar. It was a great food experience.

Yoko our tour guide was a delight and took an interest in our time in Japan from the very beginning. We were bought to some really great places and tried so many delicious things. She even brought use into the kitchen of the omelet stall and to a demonstration of tuna being cut. We had a great morning exploring the market with Yoko and left feeling very full and satisfied. I would highly recommend this food tour to family and friends who were visiting Tokyo. It was one of the many highlights of our trip.

My first tour in Japan and my first remarkable memory! I enjoyed every piece of food and explanation behind it. Yoko was an excellent guide, friendly and polite. I love cultural experiences and this one had food and sake included (what a good combination :D). Recommended 100% :)

A onderful experience with our guide Yoko, who was full of information and enthusiasm. The food we tried was varied and plentiful - don’t eat before you go. We learnt a lot about the Japanese way with seafood.

Thank you Toshi-san for a great tour! Tsukiji market is extremely busy but this serves as a very good introduction to both the market and different Japanese foods. Loved the Japanese omelet, the wasabi beans, and especially the exquisite toro sashimi. Was able to return the next day by myself and easily navigate around, and also helped with ordering in restaurants, so would recommend this tour early in your Tokyo visit.

Hello I had a wonderful time on this tour. Our guide Yoko went out of her way to ensure we had the best time and wanted for nothing. Yoko was very knowledgeable and I appreciated the little pocket handout with useful words. There was plenty of QUALITY food and I would recommend you do not eating before you go.
